BrightonGMC is the largest gay male voice choir in the UK outside of London and does a lot of work raising funds for local and national LGBT+ charities and community organisations.
This is the third incarnation of their website, which I have been responsible for as a Trustee of the charity since 2010. Their web offering covers 4 separate WordPress websites, each with its own, unique, requirements:
- www.brightongmc.org The main website provides information on the Chorus and its activities. It has a blog section and a press releases which is managed by the charity’s PR Co-ordinator and a (currently dormant) WooCommerce shopfront for merchandise. WooCommerce Subscriptions is also used to sell recurring sponsorship packages.
- tickets.brightongmc.org The ticket sales website utilises The Events Calendar with Events Tickets Plus to sell tickets for the Chorus’ three “end of season” shows, using WooCommerce Stripe Gateway as the payment processor.
- The Members’ Lounge is a private BuddyPress site for members only (so no link provided here) which utilises a lot of custom code to control access to the site to members of the Chorus. The site utilises WooCommerce Subscriptions to collect the members’ recurring monthly subscription fees. Custom code also allows the current membership to be automatically kept up to date in the Google Workspace email group functionality, adding and removing members’ emails from the groups when they join and leave the Chorus, or when the update their email address.
- brightonwadconcert.info A simple WordPress site giving details of the Brighton & Hove World Aids Day Concert which is co-produced by BrightonGMC.
