Evie The Small Garden is a charming illustrated children’s book based on the adventures of a two year old girl exploring her aunt’s garden.
The brief for the site was to support the book with a WooCommerce storefront to sell the book and various products based on the book’s illustrations.
The site was designed by Alf Alaimo and I built a simple, bespoke theme based on the designer’s supplied Indesign and PDF files.
A fun part of the brief was to bring the illustrations to life. The original illustrations were provided as vector Adobe Illustrator files, so it was a fairly simple job to export them as SVG graphic files and add simple CSS animations to them. The big illustration on the front page was a little more involved as that required javascript triggers to play the animations when that part of the illustration scrolls in to view.
